55 years of the UK Abortion Act

Today, 27 April 2023, marks 55 years since the Abortion Act came into force in the United Kingdom.

Since its introduction in 1968, at least 10, 135,618 preborn babies have been killed in the womb.

Marking the date today, a spokeswoman for CARE said:

"At CARE, we believe that life begins at conception. All lives are equally valuable from the point of conception. We long to see fewer abortions and more help for women going through a crisis pregnancy.

"Legislation in the UK is among the most permissive in the world, and the most permissive in Europe. Despite the fact that the public at large supports curbs on abortion, including a lower legal limit.

"A truly good society ensures that all citizens are cherished and protected, and pays particular regard to the most vulnerable groups. The unborn are the the most vulnerable group of all.

"At CARE we will continue to advocate for a better story in our culture, and join Christians across the UK in praying that God would have mercy, and change hearts. There is always hope in Him."
